Net Metering

What is Net Metering?
Net metering is a billing system that allows you to produce your own electricity with solar panels and store any excess energy generated in the electrical grid.
-
Electricity Generation: Your solar panels produce electricity, which powers your home or business.
-
Excess Energy: When your solar system generates more electricity than you need—often on sunny days—the extra energy is sent to the grid.
-
Credit System: This surplus energy is converted into credits on your electricity bill, effectively allowing you to “store” energy in the grid.
-
Using Credits: When your solar system isn’t producing enough power, like at night or on cloudy days, you can use these credits to draw electricity from the grid at little to no extra cost, aside from minor charges.
Net metering systems can be set up in residential or commercial properties as long as they meet specific requirements.
For a 1-phase power supply, the maximum capacity is 4.16 kW, while for a 3-phase supply, it is 10.4 kW.
These systems can be installed on the roof or the ground of a licensed property. If you reside in an apartment building and want to install solar panels, all residents must consent to the installation.
